Translation Memory (TM) Definition


A Translation Memory (TM) is a database that stores the source text and its translation.

It allows you to reuse your translation for new version of the source report or similar reports avoiding to re-translate several times the same text over and over when each new version of the source report is released.

For example, imagine you translated an English report with Crystal Reports into French and German. Previously, if you had to make modifications in the English report you had to either:

However, if you use this tool to translate your reports, it will store the previous translations in its TM database and will automatically pre-translate the new source report for you. You now only have to translate what has changed and you can deliver the updated translated reports much quicker.
