Fonts and languages

The grid editor and multi-line editor display the target text using the font associated to the field being translating. If you are unable to input Japanese characters for instance, first select the "font" filter in the "property filter" menu. Then in the grid editor, select a font that support Japanese characters such as "Arial Unicode MS" for this field.

You will now be able to input/copy and paste Japanese characters for this field.

It is also possible to replace all the target fonts automatically by a specific font. To do this, you need to set a replacement font in the TM window for this target language and re-activate it to recreate/re-pretranslate the target report. See replacement font for more information.

If you are using Crystal Translator for Crystal Reports 7, 8 or 8.5 then you should also select the appropriate character sets of the font.

The source text is displayed using the source font name. Thus, this software is able to display any source text whatever their languages, if the indicated font is available on your operating system.

For instructions on how to install "Arial Unicode MS" on your computer, follow this link.

For instructions on handling right to left languages, check the Right to Left language section.

To input foreign characters using your keyboard, you may need to change your keyboard input language. You can quickly switch the input language of your keyboard by clicking on the language displayed in the status bar:

If you cannot find the language you need in this menu, this is because it has not been installed on your operating system. Open the Control Panel/Regional and language options\languages\details and \Advanced to add the languages you need:

You can also input special Unicode characters by right clicking on the translated text
