Design view

The design view is always available, even if the preview is not because it isn't possible to connect to datasources or no data is saved in the report.
The design view provides the translator with an overview on how the report looks like which help selecting the right wording according to the context. While the preview is generated by Crystal Reports engine and is therefore an exact view of what the report is, the design view in contrary is computed by Crystal Translator and is an approximation. Due to this, the design view shouldn't be used to determine if texts are truncated for instance.
This design view will automatically be refreshed as you translate.

Selection in design view
You can select an object directly from the design view by clicking on it:

The object will be highlighted in blue and its relevant property selected in the grid editor. If no property get selected in the grid editor, it may be because there is none by default, for example in the case of data fields. To display properties for such object, you first need to select the filters Font, Position or Size.

You can also double click on an object in the design view to open the multi-line editor. In case of Text object, the multi-line editor will open with the text ready for editing:

Selection in Grid Editor, Multi-line Editor
If you select a new object in the Grid editor or move to the next property from the multi-line editor, the new selected object will be automatically highlighted in blue in the design view.
If the new selected object isn't in the visible section of the report, the design view will automatically scroll to make this object visible.
