Quick start

Alternatively of using the Setup Wizard, you can also get started by following the steps below:

  1. Launch Crystal Translator
    menu Start\All Programs\Crystal Translator\Crystal Translator
     
  2. Create a new TM
    a TM database will store the translations for future use.
    menu File\New TM
    Select a directory and filename for this TM
    Enter a name for this TM
    Select the source language you will translate from
     
  3. Add a target language to the TM
    press and select a target language you will translate into
    press to validate
     
  4. Open the source report
    menu File\Open source report
    Browse and select the source report you want to translate.
    Optional: enter the details of the datasources the report should connect to, to retrieve the data needed for the preview, or press "used saved data" or "Design view only" (no preview will be available but a design view will give you an overview)
    Optional: enter the parameters the report needs to generate.
     
  5. Activate the target language
    In the TM window, tick the activate field next to the target language you created.
    A new window will open where you can translate the report into this target language.
     
  6. Start translating the report
    Enter the translation in the "translated value" column.
    The preview and design view automatically shows the translation.

  7. Save the translated report
    menu Report\Save As
    Browse a location and enter a filename

 

That’s it, you translated your first report. At the next launch, the TM you created will be automatically reopen so that you can reuse its translation. Please see chapters below for detailed explanation of the available functions.
